Twin Size Bed Dimensions – Perfect for children or small bedrooms
The twin mattress size is 39” wide by 75” long, suitable for one person. These beds are often used for children’s bedrooms giving the children more floor space to play. These beds, also known as singles, are also suitable for small bedrooms as they are narrow and easy to fit in the space.
Bunk beds are often the twin mattress size but can also have a double or queen size for the lower bed then a twin for the top. Twin beds have the most economical sheet sets, another reason they are great for kids as their bedding is easily changed as they grow.
The twin mattress size requires a fitted sheet that is 39”x 75”, a flat sheet that is 66” x 96”, and a pillow sheet that is 20” x 26”.
Twin XL Size Bed Dimensions
The standard twin size may be too short for tall adults, but there is a twin extra-long available. This size is almost only common on college campuses. When you send your kids away from your home to take on the rigors of academia, this is what they will most likely be sleeping on. This mattress measures 39” wide by 80” long is suitable for adults and extra tall teens. Two can be put together to form a king-size bed for flexibility in a guest room.
The Twin extra-long can be more difficult to find sheets for and not come in as many styles. For the extra-long size Twin, you will need a fitted sheet that is 39” x 80”, a flat sheet that is 66” x 102” and a pillow case that is 20” x 26”.
Can you use two Twin XL mattresses on a King size frame?
If you are wondering what to do to make twin beds into a king, there is a product that can help you accomplish this. There is a twin bed connector that will convert twin beds to king-size in a matter of minutes. This product will keep the beds from separating and get rid of the crack between them. You will save money by joining two twin beds that you already have than going to the expense of buying a new king size bed. This product will eliminate the separation between the two beds and make it more comfortable.
The first step in making twin beds into a king is to join the two mattresses with the twin bed connector. This product provides a seamless joint that will keep the beds together. It is covered with sheepskin to provide cushioning and comfort from the strap. The next thing you need to do is put a king-size pad and sheets on the mattress, and you now have your king-size bed. The connector is easily washed and made of non-allergenic material.
This solves the dilemma for a guest bedroom with twin beds when you need a king-size bed. You now know what to do to make twin beds into a king when you have a couple coming to stay with you. Quickly and easily, you will have the king size bed that you needed for their stay. As your guests stay in the bed, they will not even realize that it is not really a king. Then when you need two single beds, it is just as quick to separate the beds and you have your twin beds back.
Full-Size Bed Dimensions
The dimensions for this bed is 54” x 75” in most brands. A Full-sized bed, otherwise known as a double, is seen as the next step up from a Twin XL in the mattress sizes. It can fit two people somewhat, but the main problem is that it is still not quite wide enough to fit most average adults. As it is only about 1.5 feet wider than the Twin, you won’t be picking up a whole lot more space. The good parts about this size are the fact that it makes a great guest room option. The sheets are very easy to come by. It fits two people (comfortably or not), and you can still easily maneuver this through the house with ease.
Queen Size Bed Dimensions
The dimensions are commonly found to be 60” x 80”. This is the bed that most adults sleep on. If you go to a guest room or most hotel rooms, then this is probably what you will find. For couples that live in smaller master bedrooms, this bed size is ideal. In addition to that, the Queen bed will fit two average-sized adults rather comfortably, while at the same time not being too difficult to maneuver through the house. Though taller adults might struggle, most will be happy with this mattress size.
King Size Bed Dimensions
Dimensions for this bed are approximately 76” x 80”. The King-sized bed is known as the “master room bed” for the simple fact that most master bedrooms have these mattress sizes. The King size bed comfortably fits two (or three) people with plenty of rolling room in between. Sheets for these mattress sizes are rather easy to find, as this is a very common size. The King size bed may still be too short for very tall adults. One major drawback is the fact that it is so large that it might be difficult to arrange furniture around and fit into smaller homes.
California King Size Bed Dimensions
The dimensions for this bed are usually 72” x 84”. The California King is perhaps the largest bed of them all. Any size larger than this, and you will have to have it custom made or modified. This size is for very tall adults who want a lot of spreading room. Of course, due to its sheer mass, these mattress sizes will be very difficult to get into most houses and impossible to move into smaller houses (without knocking down a wall or two). The California King Sized mattress is considered the ultimate luxury sized mattress.

Which mattress size should I get?
When deciding what size mattress you need, there are a few things you should consider:
- First, how many people will be sleeping on the mattress? If there are two of you, you should strongly consider at least a queen size.
- Next, determine the height of the person or persons that will be sleeping on the mattress. The size you choose should be at least 4 inches longer than the tallest person who will use it.
- Finally, measure the room the mattress will be in. Make sure that the mattress fits the size and scale of the room.
